As we are excitedly preparing for Durga Puja 2024, we wanted to update the PDX Parbon community members that your generous contributions to help Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh has reached the people most affected by the recent onset of violence. This endeavor is a humble effort to lift their spirits a little before Durga Puja! We worked with “সংখ্যালঘু অধিকার আন্দোলন ” (Minority Rights Movement BD) to distribute the funds. They are a network of students working to attain the rights of Hindus/minorities, rehabilitate victims, and raise awareness in Bangladesh. They have dedicated field teams across the country that can reach victims with the utmost transparency so we can be assured our donations are making a real difference! PDX Parbon community’s donations have helped 19 families in Lalmonirhat, 8 families in Thakurgaon, 5 families in Parchagarh, and 9 families in Dinajpur. Many mandaps in Bangladesh remain empty this year with protima broken and fear of violence. We want to add that with our limited ability, we have worked to reach as many people as possible with this first fundraiser. The number of recorded Hindu victims from ongoing attacks and communal violence is so high, that we prioritized people who have lost their entire homes and means of living. There are still hundreds of affected minority families who have been victims of loot, arson, vandalism, and flood in losses amounting to lakhs that are yet to receive relief and still need help! In the essence of Durga Puja, PDX Parbon urges you to stand in solidarity with the most vulnerable people in our community back home and extend your help so we can keep working on PDX Parbon’s philanthropy efforts and make it safer for Hindus in Bangladesh!
